I am a third-year PhD student at the UC Santa, Barbara in the Department of Computer Science, and I am honored to work with Dr. Bu as my advisor. He is very talented and has been a great source of inspiration for me. Prior to this, I earned my B.S. degree from Shandong University in 2019.

My research focuses on the intersection of machine learning and information theory. I am particularly interested in exploring how information-theoretic principles can be connected to the generalization and fairness of various neural network models.

My current work focuses on quantifying generative models’ behavior in distributional space, especially diffusion models, and on the thinking time of LLMs. If you’re interested, please contact me at haobo@ucsb.edu.
